Notice / Academic Pause
There are two types of Notices:
Academic and Progress
Academic Notice

A student who has attempted at least 12 semester units and earned below a 2.0 GPA in all units at SBCC shall be placed on academic notice.

Removal occurs when a student accumulates a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.

A student whose cumulative GPA is below 1.75 for three consecutive semesters shall be subject to required academic pause.

Progress Notice

A student who has enrolled in at least 12 units shall be placed on progress notice when the percentage of all units enrolled and for which entries of "W", "I, "NC," and "NP" reaches or exceeds 50%.
- Removal occurs when the percentage of cumulative units enrolled and for which entries
of "W", "I," "NC," and "NP" are recorded falls below 50%.

Required progress pause occurs when the percentage of cumulative units for which entries of "W", "I," "NC," and "NP" are recorded reaches or exceeds 50% for three consecutive semesters.

What happens next?

Notice interventions may include a restriction of units taken and/or registration.

Registration "holds" may be placed on students' records.
