Jett Black-Maertz brings nearly two decades of experience in grant management, community engagement, and public service to the SBCC Board of Trustees. Jett’s deep roots in the community and personal journey reflect a commitment to education, equity, and opportunity.
Jett has spent her career advocating for systemic change in housing equity and homelessness response within the nonprofit and government sectors. Jett currently works as a consultant specializing in federal, state, and local grant compliance, helping organizations maximize funding to meet community needs. She previously worked for the County of Santa Barbara, where she managed complex grants aimed at addressing housing inequities and building capacity for a local response to homelessness. She currently sits on the PATH Santa Barbara advisory board.
On the SBCC Board of Trustees, Jett is committed to advancing educational access and supporting student success, strengthening connections between the community and SBCC, and fostering fiscal sustainability. She will bring a holistic approach to leadership, prioritizing environmental stewardship and sound governance to ensure SBCC continues to serve the community.
Jett is honored to serve in this role and looks forward to working with students, faculty, and the broader community to uphold SBCC’s mission and values.
